Directions and Getting Around
The Minneapolis Convention Center is conveniently located near two major interstate highways, I-35W and I-94, and is only 20 minutes from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. It also is just eight blocks away from the Hiawatha light rail route, which includes runs between the airport and downtown Minneapolis.
Driving Directions to Downtown Minneapolis and the Convention Center
From the West (I-94)
Take the Fourth Street exit from I-94 and proceed to Second Avenue South. (Do NOT turn right onto Second Avenue North.) Turn right on Second Avenue South and go eight blocks to the Convention Center.
From the West (I-394)
Take Downtown exit (12th Street). Follow 12th Street South to Second Avenue South and turn right. The Convention Center is on your left.
From the East (I-94)
Take the 11th Street exit. Follow 11th Street South until you reach Second Avenue South; turn left onto Second Avenue South and cross 12th Street South. The Convention Center is on your left.
From the South (I-35W) Follow downtown exit signs to the 11th Street exit and follow 11th Street to Second Avenue South. Turn left on Second Avenue South and go one block to Convention Center.
From the North (I-35W)
Take I-35W to Hwy. 280. Follow Hwy. 280 to I-94 west. Follow I-94 to the 11th Street exit (NOT 11th Avenue exit). Follow 11th Street to Second Avenue South. Turn left on Second Avenue South and go one block to the Convention Center.
From the Airport Main Terminal
Take the Hwy. 55 exit from the airport. Follow Hwy. 55 west to Minneapolis. This will become Hwy. 62 west. Follow Hwy. 62 to I-35W north to Minneapolis downtown exits. Then take the 11th Street exit. Follow 11th Street South to Second Avenue South. Turn left on Second Avenue South and go one block to the Convention Center.
Light Rail Transportation to Downtown Minneapolis, the Convention Center and Hotels
The Hiawatha Line offers fast, quiet light-rail service to 19 stations between downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America, including the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Dozens of bus routes are timed to connect with trains at Hiawatha Line stations, making it easy to travel approximately eight blocks from the Fifth Street/Nicollet Avenue station to the Minneapolis Convention Center and nearby hotels.
In addition, the Hilton Garden Hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the downtown light rail station between 7 and 9 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m.
